Tuesday report from LAKE MONROE SAILING

If the first set of races are any indication of how this years Winter Series are going to go, you do not want to miss the next one.
Sunday the Lake Monroe Sailing Association held their first club race of the season to kick off the 2009 Winter Series.

The first three races brought action you should have to pay to see. In the first race, Jerry Brinton and Sail Gator decided to that the windward mark for a small ride which Sail Gator ended up being disqualified for not doing a penalty turn.

Then the Race Committee disqualified three more boats for not rounding the mark in its new position. The Vulcan Mermaid, Monkey Butt and Just Us all received DSQ's.
Randy Pawlowski on White Hawk lead the way to the finish followed by Andy Forrest on Show Me and Chris DeLoach on the Great Pumpkin.Race two looked to be the best race as all the butterflies from the first race settled down.

A small correction on the course by the Race Committee looked like the right thing to do as the winds picked up to 12-15 mph out of the southwest. All boats cleared the line and their off. The first rounding seemed to be perfect as all boats followed White Hawk around the windward mark and headed down wind on complete the first lap. We have some good pictures and hope to have them posted soon.
On the second rounding, there was a little collision between Sail Gator, the Great Pumpkin and the Vulcan Mermaid. Vulcan Mermaid left the course with a small hole on her port side with a small splash of orange paint. No one was injured but Sail Gator and the Mermaid left the racing area.

Once again Randy Pawlowski on White Hawk lead the way followed by Aggie and Carlton Brown on Just Us and Andy Forrest on Show Me.

The third race had two boats start, Monkey Butt and White Hawk with White Hawk finishing as the clear winner.Currently White Hawk leads the series but Show Me is currently the club boat leader in the series.

Our next race will be on February 14th at noon.Thank you goes out to all who participated. Lake Monroe Sailing Associationwww.flalmsa.orgPO Box 297Sanford, FL 32771
