LAKE MONROE SAILING ASSOCIATION

To all Members and Friends:

The Lake Monroe Sailing Association held their weekly Wednesday Night Rum Race last night. Six boats enter but only five boats competed. Wind Gods knew we were coming as the wind, swirly at times, was mainly out of the east around 10mph developing some minor white caps. This set up the Rum Course as a fast down wind with a very shifty upwind as boats tacked in all directions to make it back to the Romance marks.

DJ McCabe's Precision 23 once known as "Hard Hat" and now "Ha Ha" stole third from Lough-Buoy by 40 seconds on corrected time. Miss P. helmed by Mike Padgett rounded out the field in fifth place. This is Mike's second Rum Race of the season but his overall time is improving as he is becoming more familiar with the format. Ron Ferland on the Hunter 23 is gunning for the Rum as Ron and his dog single handed the Rum Course for a second place finish. Ron has his sites on the Cruzan Rum and it will only be a matter of time when we will be awarding him one. Andy Forrest had a crew of three on Show Me last night as they finished first on corrected time. This will be Show Me's fourth bottle of Rum for the season, but others are getting closer as Andy pointed out last night.

Show Me may be the boat to beat but you can not beat the sunsets that Lake Monroe offer. This is why we sail on Wednesday Night. It is not always about the rum! Mike Padgett took some great pictures last night and we have attached one for your viewing pleasure. Thanks again to Chuck and Scott at Lemoncello's for the great service and food.
