LAKE EUSTIS SAILING CLUB

The Lake Eustis Sailing Club had the return of brisk winds and waves over the weekend resulting in exciting racing and some capsizes.  In the Wayfarer class Jim McIntyre was first followed by Pete Hylen and Ted Benedict.  The MC scows were led by Jeff Nicholas with David Helmick second and Dave Moring third.  Ray Laguna was first in the Flying Scot group.  Dean Grimes and Joe Lobato were second with Al Pivonka third.  Rob Krentel was first in the Laser fleet with Alejandro Illera second and Sam Chapin third. Luke Yates was the first youth with Claire Epaillard the first woman.

Club racing returns in three weeks and instruction for youth continues every Saturday.

LAKE EUSTIS SAILING CLUB

 The Lake Eustis Sailing Club enjoyed the strong, gusty, and shifty winds and the rain of the weekend.  The sailing was exciting with capsizes and some tired bodies.  The MC scow winner was Scott Tillema followed by David Helmick and Tim Fredman.  Dean Grimes and Joe Lobato were first in the Flying Scots with Francois Simon second and Jack Bazner third.  Izak Kielmovitch led the Wayfarer class.  Jim Lingeman was second and Ted Benedict third.  In the Laser group Rob Krentel was first followed by Jerry Beck and Marc Solal.  

This week 80 boats are expected for the 40th Annual MC Midwinter Championship regatta.  The Melges Boat Company of Zenda, Wisconsin, that builds the boats, will present a clinic on Tuesday and Wednesday and the regatta will follow on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
