LAKE EUSTIS SAILING CLUB

Brisk winds from the edge of tropical storm Claudette gave Lake Eustis Sailing Club members exciting sailing on Saturday and more on Sunday with a more than a few capsizes.

The Laser winner for the weekend was Dave Chapin with Rob Krentel second and Alejandro Illera third. Ben Getchell was the first youth. Ben picked up Caroline Chapin as crew to help with the increased winds of Sunday.

The MC scows sailed their match racing series which was postponed by thunderstorms from last month. In match racing the boats race two at a time against each other and then switch competitors. So there is a winner and looser in each race and after everyone has sailed against each member of the group they count up the wins and the losses. Over the weekend, Craig Eaton had the most wins with Robert Newland second and Geoff Moehl third.

The regular racing schedule begins Labor Day weekend and continues through the Summer. Youth sailing lessons begin Saturday, August 29.
