LAKE EUSTIS SAILING CLUB

The Lake Eustis Sailing Club enjoyed the last of summer with the warm weather of Saturday and change to winter and windy on Sunday.  Ray Laguna continued to dominate the Flying Scot class winning all four races.  Gus Chennells was second and Greg Murphy third.   David Helmick led the MC scows followed by Geoff Moehl and Don Fancher.  James M. McIntyre was first in the Wayfarer group with Mike Murto second and David Hepting third.  Dave Chapin finished first in the Laser class.  Alejandro Illera was second and Rob Krentel third. Caroline Chapin was the first woman.   Club racing will continue next year after the holidays.

LAKE EUSTIS SAILING CLUB

 Brisk winds of the weekend at the Lake Eustis Sailing Club lead to exciting racing, a few capsizes, and some people withdrawing from the races because of the challenging conditions.

Dean Grimes and Joe Lobato won all six Flying Scot races with Gus Chennells second and Francois Simon third. David Helmick led the MC scow group followed by Scott Tillema and Dave Moring.

James M. McIntyre won the wayfarer class with James R. McIntyre second and Mike Murto third.

David Chapin won all eleven races of the Laser fleet. Rob Krentel was second and Jerry Beck third. Bailey Verkaik was the first youth.

Club racing returns in two weeks with instruction for youth every Saturday.

LAKE EUSTIS SAIING CLUB

Aa The Lake Eustis Sailing Club enjoyed the last warm winds of November with club racing this past weekend. The Wayfarer class had four races all won by Jim Lingeman. Izak Kielmovitch was second with David Hepting third. Dave Moring lead the MC scow group with Geoff Moehl second and Scott Tillema third. Ray Laguna was first in the Flying Scots. Dean Grimes and Joe Lobato were second and Gus Chennells third. The first Laser was Dave Chapin followed by Rob Krentel and Sam Chapin.


Sailing Lessons for youth continue every Saturday and club racing returns in two weeks.

LAKE EUSTIS SAILING CLUB

The Lake Eustis Sailing Club had cooler, windy weather of the Fall that brought exciting sailing with wet spray and capsizes. Winning the MC scow weekend was David Helmick followed by Tim Fredman and Don Fancher. Ray Laguna continued his domination of the Flying Scots with Dean Grimes and Joe Lobato second. Gus Chennells was third. Rob Krentel won the Laser weekend with Dave Chapin second and Patrick Daniel third. Bailey Verkaik was the first Laser youth.

Next weekend the club will host the 18th Annual MC Scow Southeast Region Championship with boats entered from Texas, the Carolinas, Wisconsin, Michigan and New York.

LAKE EUSTIS SAILING CLUB

The Lake Eustis Sailing Club hosted 38 boats plus parents and coaches from around Florida to the sixth Annual Mid Florida Lakes Youth Championships for Optis, Lasers, and Club 420 sailboats. Overall Opti winner was Reedy Monahan from Jacksonville, second Justin Callahan from Fort Meyers and third was J.J. Smith from St. Petersburg. The Opti green fleet leader was Justin Callahan. Leader in the blue fleet was Max Epaillard and in the White fleet Reedy Monahan.

First in the Laser4.7 boats was Baily Verkaik of Eustis, second Claire Epaillard of Mt. Dora, and third Michael Gapuz of Eustis.

The Laser radial winner was Adam Winton of Fort Meyers followed by Luke Yates of Sorrento and

Alicia Miscato of Sarasota.

Club 420 boats were led by Jonathan Watson and Hugh Ronald of Eustis. Darcy Jensen and Melanie Ladley of Eustis were second followed by Chris Nagy and Ayton Smith of Eustis third.

Next weekend the club returns to local racing with youth instruction on Saturday.
