LAKE EUSTIS SAILING CLUB

The Lake Eustis Laser fleet struggled, but got in two days of light wind racing this weekend with Dave Chapin leading, Rob Krentel second and Sam Chapin third.  Cameron Smith was the first youth followed by Chris Nagy and Michael Gapuz.  Max Epaillard was the first Opti with Matt Smith second. Jackie Nagy was third Opti and the first woman.
The Flying Scots and MC scows managed two short races on Sunday with Dean Grimes first in Scots followed by Henry Picco and Gus Chennells.  The MC scow winner was Dave Moring with
Robert Newland second and Jeff Nichols third.

Next weekend the club will hold a catamaran regatta on Friday Saturday and Sunday with about 40 boats expected to race..

LAKE EUSTIS SAILING CLUB

  The Lake Eustis Sailing Club’s regular racing season started  with brisk winds over the weekend enjoyed by 37 boats in 6 classes.

The Optimist prams were led by Max Epaillard followed by Matt Smith and Justin Harper.

In the Laser fleet first place was Dave Chapin with Rob Krentel second and Sam Chapin third.  Cameron Smith was the first youth and Luke Yates was second youth.  Clair Epaillard was the third youth and also the first woman.  Leah Harper was the second woman.

David Hepting led the Wayfarer group followed by Jim Lingeman and Mike Murto.

The flying Scot winner was Gus Chennells.  Second was Dean Grimes.  Third was and Francois Simon.

MC scow leader was Dave Moring followed by Lee Sayler and Robert Newland.  June Howells was first woman in the scows.

Richard Kinnie won the A catamarans races with Dave Helmick Jr. second and Dave Helmick third.

Sailing instruction for youth continues every Saturday.

 With no wind at noon on Sunday at the Lake Eustis Sailing Club, the bigger boats only sailed on Saturday. Ray Laguna won both Flying Scot races.  Dean Grimes and Joe Lobato were second with Gus Chennells third.  MC scow winner was David Moring followed by Robert Newland and Lee Sayler.  Candi Robb was the first woman.

Dave Hepting was the first Wayfarer with Jim Lingeman second and Ted Benedict third.

The Laser fleet managed races both Saturday and Sunday with Dave Chapin leading followed by Alejandro Illera and Rob Krentel.  Luke Yates was first youth, Cameron Smith second youth and Max Epaillard third.

Youth instruction continues every Saturday and regular racing returns in two weeks.

 The Lake Eustis Sailing Club’s Laser fleet enjoyed strong winds with gust to 20 on both Saturday and Sunday this past weekend.  That makes for exciting sailing and a few capsizes.  The Weekend winner was Rob Krentel from Eustis. Jerry Beck from Winter Park was second and Marc Solal of Longwood was third.  Chris Nagy of Winter Park was the first youth. 

Regular racing of all classes returns Labor Day weekend with “learn to sail” classes for youth every
Saturday.

The Lake Eustis Sailing  Club’s Laser fleet continues racing every weeks during the Summer  with the July 21 and 22 weekend won by Sam Chapin with Jerry Beck second and Vince Renzoni third.  With more wind on August 4 and 5, Patrick Daniel was the winner followed by Sam Chapin and Jerry Beck.  Glenda Libby was the first woman.

MC scow match racing is planned for the  next weekend.  Learn to sail classes for youth and regular racing season will start in September.

The Lake Eustis Sailing Club’s Laser fleet had it’s twice a month races this past weekend with Sam Chapin the weekend winner. Jerry Beck was second and Vince Renzoni third.  Chris Nagy was the first Youth.

The Youth Sailing Camp has finished and sailing lessons for youth will begin again in September.

The Lake Eustis Sailing Club’s Laser fleet struggled with the light winds and heat of the weekend, but managed to get four races in on both Saturday and Sunday.  Rob Krentel was first with Sam Chapin second and Jerry Beck third.

The scheduled MC scow match racing was postponed due to the light wind.

The youth foundation will have a learn to sail camp during next two weeks and then the Laser racing will return on the weekend in two weeks.
